Tom Mason began working with guns when he was still in high school and employed during the summers at Silver Dollar City, Missouri.
At the time, the City had a gun shop dealing with antique and replica firearms, and Tom moved from being a cave guide to developing what came to be a life-long affection for the history, technology, and elegance of firearms.
Thirty-five years later, after a career as a mortgage banker and two attempts at a seat in the US Congress, Tom decided to go back to what he really loved - firearms. After over a year at gunsmithing school in Colorado, Tom opened his shop in Downer's Grove, near Chicago.
Tired of six years of operating in cramped, limited quarters, Tom moved his shop to Excelsior Springs. Now, with five times the space, easy highway access, and plenty of parking, he can provide his customers with a professional, fully-equipped facility to provide the services the highly enginered, complex firearms of today require, as well as the kind of knowledge and attention to detail demanded by the maintenance or resoration of heritage antique or prized guns that have been handed down from generation to generation.
Tom, and his older brother Bill, share an interest in firearms and knives of all types, and a special affection for single-action pistols, "cowboy guns," high-end shotguns, as well as 1911-class semi-automatic pistols.
Regardless of your firearm needs, Tom and Bill are ready to provide the information and advice, honest estimates, and the kind of personal attention you expect and deserve from a trained, factory-certified, licensed professional gunsmith.
